Schedule IP Phones to Turn On

Hi Cisco Support Community,

As a church we have found the UC560 system a good fit for our needs.  There is one piece we are working on finding a solution to.  During our services over the weekend, it would be nice for all the phones to be "on" rather than in "sleep" mode.  It appears that the phones turn on during the standard business day 8am-5pm.  Is there a way to modify this setting to include other times of the day?

We have taken advantage of CCA to configure the UC560 system.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Blessings,

John J.

Hi John,

What type of IP Phone you are using?

IP Phones should be on all the time, but their display turns off as they are on the saving energy mode, and not on the sleeping mode.

Regards,

Bj

BJ,

Thanks for offering to help.  We use 7965 and 514G phones.  Yes, we know they are on all the time and should never turn off, but rather the display turns off as an energy saving feature.  What we were trying to accomplish is to have adjust the sleep setting.  We only wanted the phone displays to sleep on Saturday.

I was able to reach out to TAC and identity the answer.  Unfortunately, this is one of the limitations of CCA so the setting needed to be configured with CLI.

Here is the CLI to modify the display schedule:

Telephony-service
service phone daysDisplayNotActive 7
no create cnf-files
create cnf-file

"Service phone daysDisplayNotActive 7" instructs the phones to only turn off displays on Saturdays.  Because we only want the phones set to "DisplayNotActive" on Saturday.  This will make all other days display active.

I hope that makes some sense and is helpful for anyone who might need a similar configuration.

Blessings,

Pastor John
