AnyConnect Client kills Sidecar connection under macOS Catalina

Since updating to macOS Catalina, I enjoy using sidecar to extend my laptop screen on my iPad. However, every VPN connection that I established with the AnyConnect Client kills this sidecar connection. Any suggestions?

Same issue as mentioned in previous post. Cannot establish connection via Sidecar over USB when Cisco VPN is running.

It's been a year since the last post. Any updates on this topic?

Dear alexkrz,

As I wrote earlier (‎05-08-2020 08:27 AM), I stoped using AnyConnect and switched to openconnect. No issues since then. Günter

Hey @alexkrz I found myself on the same situation, it's been so long since there isn't a one size fits all fix.

A lot of it is also company policies and not something that Cisco AnyConnect on the end user side could do.

On my side I would need to start negotiations and ping-pong'ing emails with IT (and will probably be escalated to a security director, head of whatever and HR something guaranteed) but maybe you would have better luck requesting a fix.

Will be trying open connect as suggested by @Gunter42296 on my side to see if it is any different, however instructions on installation (Homebrew is the easiest way), how to use, how to authenticate with Microsoft's Authenticator, etc seems not clear.

I am having this problem too. I have the latest MacOS and latest AnyConnect. Sidecar feature does not work on USB or Wifi when connected to AnyConnect VPN.

I tried OpenConnect method, however I only got as far as installing it through HomeBrew. I am not technical enough to understand how to connect to my companies VPN through OpenConnect. I couldn't even find a VPN address in AnyConnect for me to copy from, I just select the city and the server address changes each time.

My command line looks like this

sudo openconnect https://VPNServer.MyInstitution.com -u MyUserName --authgroup=Anyconnect

Obviously, you need the address of the vpn server of your institution and some details on the authentication process of your institution. Your local support team should have this information.
