I noticed a new MobileVPN client was released yesterday. Although, I don't see an Android version included which I was hoping for. What are the plans for an Android release if any?

Hi Dave,
There are no current plans\schedule for an Android Anyconnect client. I will also suggest contacting your Cisco Account team and they might be able to provide additional information.
Thanks,
Naman

Not according to this article: http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/190534/cisco_develops_vpn_client_for_pcs_smartphones.html
Quote:
"All of the components for AnyConnect should be released by June, although iPhone and Android compatibility should come by the end of the year, Zambrano said."
Also, Cisco is releasing their own Android tablet which includes an AnyConnect VPN Client: http://www.tabletpcreview.com/default.asp?newsID=1678&news=google+android+os+cisco+cius+tablet
Quote:
"The Cisco will release the Cius in limited quanities at the end of 2010, with general availablilty slated for Q1 2011."
So, will the Android AnyConnect VPN Client be available for non-Cisco Android devices?
Thanks.

Hello Daniel,
We were pleased to announce that the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is the first 3rd party (and only SSL) VPN client available for Samsung Android devices.
Customers may download the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client directly from the Android Market.
Supported Devices:
Galaxy S model GT-I9000 (Gingerbread Maintenance Release) Galaxy S model SC-02B (Gingerbread Maintenance Release) Galaxy S II model GT-I9100 Galaxy S II model SC-02C AnyConnect is also supported on Tab 7 running Android 2.3.3+ or Galaxy Tabs 8.9
and 10.1 running Android 3.0+. (Note - Tab 10.1 support for model GT-P7510 (US)
will be supported after the Samsung TouchWiz MR in approx. Mid-July) Note that the Android images must be official Carrier or Samsung provided versions,
and not home-brew or third-party builds of Android.http://tools.cisco.com/squish/60427

The ASA requires an AnyConnect Mobile license (L-ASA-AC-M-55XX=), as well as either
an AnyConnect Essentials (L-ASA-AC-E-55XX=) or AnyConnect Premium Clientless SSL VPN
Edition (L-ASA-AC-SSL-YYYY=) license, where XX is the last two digits of your ASA
model number and YYYY is the number of simultaneous users. AnyConnect Mobile and
Essentials licenses are enabled per ASA, there is no per user charge for either of
these licenses.
And to answer your question, you can also have AC on a rooted Android device. Cisco
AnyConnect for Rooted, runs on most rooted devices running Android 2.1 or later.
A rooted device is a requirement unless the device is a supported Samsung device.
Rooting your device could void your device warranty. We do not support rooted devices,
nor do we provide instructions to root your device. If you choose to root your device,
please do so at your own risk.
The AnyConnect client download for Samsung does not work on rooted devices; you must
use the rooted version of AnyConnect on rooted devices.
Both a tun.ko module and IP tables are required. AnyConnect displays an error message
informing you about what is missing when you attempt to establish a VPN.
If the tun.ko module is missing, obtain or build it for your corresponding device
kernel and place it in the /data/local/kernel_modules/ directory.
