ASAv Password recovery

Hi

I need to change the password on an ASAv.

I have found this guide and it seems pretty easy. But at the begining they copy the running config to a backup file: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa93/configuration/general/asa-general-cli/basic-hostname-pw.html#pgfId-1426284

Right now i don't have priviledge exec mode access to the ASAv so my question is if the running configuration is deleted during the recovery procedure?

I don't want to loose the configuration just change the password.

If you don't have ADSM or API access to the unit, you won't be able to take
a backup. This means that you have to loose your config as you can't
restore it.

If you have the config offline (example on your machine as text file), then
you can recover the unit, copy the file from your machine to flash then
restore the config.

Hi Mohammed

I just tried this is the lab and after I booted in recovery mode without configuration I was able to login with the default password an copy startup-config running-config and then "enable password <newpassword>"
As far as I can understand from your post the configuration will be lost? Am I missing out some information?

You will not loose configs. The process is the same as on any other ASA: you boot it with no configuration, then get into the privileged exec mode, issue the 'copy startup running' command, and then set the new enable password.
