I'm using ASDM v1.5(20) to access my ASA 5510 remotely. I get the error "Unexpected end of file from server". It appears that I have upgraded my java environment and ASDM doesn't like it. What can I do. I can't tell you what firmware version I'm running on the 5510 because I can't get to it but it is definitely a back version. What are my options? I know the device is online and accessible locally. I just don't have anyone there that can do that for me right now. I'd like to eliminate this problem in the future.

Hi,
if you can't connect through ssh then downgrade Java version and try again.

Hi,
I don't understand what you mean ?
Didn't you have a JRE version which was working before?

Yes, and I would swear that it was v6. But I do a lot of development on this machine. I only have v6 and v7 installed.

I'm not sure why, but there is no ASDM launcher on the local PC attached to the ASA 5510. Is there a CLI I can use?

Hi,
you can configure the ASA with CLI by either connecting a console cable or using the management interface.
Regards.
