Can a RV120W create a site to site VPN connection to a CISCO 880 SERIES INTEGRATED SERVICES ROUTER?

At present we have 2 x RV120W for two existing sites and a VPN connection between these sites.  We have a third site that we need to connect back to the main office and we are considering purchasing a 887VA router for the main site and using the RV120W routers in the remote sites.

Can the RV120W routers connect via IPSEC VPN to the main site with an 887VA Router?

Are there any limitations?

Will the clients at the remote sites be able to connect to clients in the main site and vice versa?

Will the clients at each remote sites be able to connect to the other remote site through the connections created to the main site?

Would it be simpler if we simply purchased an RV125W instead of the 887VA Router and can the RV routers handle more than one site-to-site VPN connection?

Thanks in Advance for your assistance.

Hi George,

Yes, you can connect IPsec VPN between RV120W and Cisco 880 router. Please see that on 880 router you will need a k9 image. Also, you can make 880 router as a hub device where it will help you to connect two remote sites via VPN and site 1 (remote) will be able to connect with Site 2 (remote) through the Cisco 880 device. I believe you need something like this:

The only different here will be that instead of VPN user, you will have a RV120W and on the internet side, you will have another RV120W.

Had it been an ASA, I would have recommended you to this link: https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/12752536/how-configure-site-site-vpn-hairpinning-cisco-asa-firewall

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,

Vishnu

Hi Vishnu,

Thanks for the info.  We have purchased the C881-K9 router and we are testing with a Cisco RV320 (which is also a small business Router).

The issue we have is with the site to site VPN.  We have managed to get the Tunnel connected but we cannot ping across the tunnel to the LAN side of either Router.  Is there any setting that could cause this on either Or both Routers?

Thanks in advance.

George
