cannot find asa cache-fs command

Hello all,

I am having issue to config anyconnect by adding additional images using "svc image disk0:/anyconnect-macosx-i386-2.5.2001-k9.pkg 2".

The error message is:

ERROR: File write error (check disk space)

ERROR: Unable to load SVC image - increase disk space via the 'cache-fs' command

I found the fix which indicates using cache-fs commands (links below):

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa80/command/reference/c1.html#wp1953144

However, I could not find cache-fs command under webvpn configuration mode. I am using:

Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 8.2(1)

Device Manager Version 6.2(1)

and it does not work on either 5520 or 5510.

Any idea or suggestion?

thanks,

Gene

Gene,

Honestly I've never used or have recollection of this command.

Normally you can use:

  fsck                           Filesystem check

for file system integrity.

Let me know if that helps.

Marcin

Thanks! I don't think filesystem integrity is the issue. But I check anyway.

Gene,

Sorry for late reply I had a few hectic days.

I misread your initial post.

That command "cache-fs" has been removed from newer versions of ASA:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa80/command/reference/c1.html#wp2112832

as compared to:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/command/reference/c1.html

In anyway if you're running out of disk space only possibility is to run some cleanup (remove coredumps and not needed images/logs from flash).

Marcin

Marcin,

I have run into the same issue as Gene.  Neither of us is out of disk space.  My ASA has 130MB free space and in Gene's Post he stated that he has 210MB free space.  Any ideas?  I am desperate.

Steven,

Can you get me "show ver" and "show run webvpn" If you're running 8.2.1 I would upgrade to 8.2.5 at least (latest release in that train).

And please try adding the images from ASDM rather than CLI (in case you're missing regex strings).

There's an internal bug tracking the error message being diplayed, but the faults can be numerous.

Marcin

Hello!

Anyone know how to fix it?

[OK] webvpn

      webvpn

[OK] enable outside

[ERROR] svc image disk0:/anyconnect-win-3.1.00495-k9.pkg 1

File write error (check disk space)

ERROR: Unable to load SVC image - increase disk space via the 'cache-fs' command

I have much disk left... So, disk space is not my problem...

My firmware version is 8.2.(2)12

Hi  Diego,

As recommended by Marcin, please upgrade to the latest version 8.2.(5).

http://tools.cisco.com/squish/064EE

Keep us posted.

Thanks.

Portu.

Hi All,

I had the same problem on ASA 8.0(2)

ciscoasa(config-webvpn)# svc image flash:/anyconnect-win-3.1.14018-k9.pkg

ERROR: File write error (check disk space)
ERROR: Unable to load SVC image - increase disk space via the 'cache-fs' command

however, the below command solved my problem

ciscoasa(config-webvpn)# cache-fs limit 64
ciscoasa(config-webvpn)# svc image flash:/anyconnect-win-3.1.14018-k9.pkg

I hope this helps.

I had the same problem using 8.2.(1).  According to the TAC, the 'cache-fs' command has been depricated.  However, I was able to get around the problem by upgrading to 8.2.(5).  This version supposedly dynamically allocates cache space.

Odd, I'm running 8.2(5) on a 5510 and am still encountering this problem.

The "cache" from what I understand is not disk, but rather in memory.  The ASA serves certain files from memory ("cache") for performance reasons.  By default, the size is 21MB so files larger than that will not fit in cache thus resutling in this error.

I tried disabling cache this this config:

webvpn

cache

  disable

But still no luck.

Anybody figure this out. I have 8.2(5).
