Hi All,
I am currently running an old Cisco 7513 unit and just yesterday, we are having problems telnetting into it.
Upon consoling into it, it appears all the vty lines are occupied from outside sources and did not time out.
I tried doing a 'clear line' command on all of them but they just won't kill the sessions.
I cannot reboot the machine yet, as it is running critical traffic but is there a workaround for this?
Due to this problem we are unable to telnet into the router and that can cause serious problems in the long run.
Thanks again!

Hi,
I assume you are using the following?
clear line vty 0
To prevent this in the first place then you should have the following configured
line vty 0 4
exec-timeout 30
This will clear all sessions after 30 minutes idle time.

Hi,
Thanks for replying. Actually, it was previously configured as below:
line vty 0 4
exec-timeout 3 0
This should clear the line after 3 minutes idle time but some of the idle lines have been up for almost two weeks.
This shouldn't happen unless it's some sort of bug.

Hi,
Sounds like a bug to me. I would raise a TAC case and/or do a code upgrade.
Regards
