Cisco 891 router connect to my VPN provider

I got a Cisco 891 router.

The router is connected to the internet through my ISP's cable modem.  DHCP.

I would like to have it connect to my VPN provider.  Can someone give me at least the first few steps toward making that happen?

Thanks!

May I know what type of VPN provide you mean?

If it's a dedicated service from a provider I guess the provider will offer the instruction on how to connect to their serivice.

If you mean some vpn service via internet service like IPSEC.

Here is the guide.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/sec_conn_vpnips/configuration/15-mt/sec-sec-for-vpns-w-ipsec-15-mt-book.pdf

It is a paid for VPN service like Nord.

The provider I'm using does not have specific setup files for this device.

At least the provider should give the reference for necessary parameters  or else how do we know which server we should connect to?

Hi,

It should be pretty straightforward if your provider supports IKEv2. Here
is an example. Just get the username/password along with root cert.

Would a Cisco router running this be able to connect to an OpenVPN server?

My provider only does OpenVPN.
