Cisco VPN & dead dns redirection

Hi there,

We have a new issue with a local ISP implementing a dead-dns redirection to their search site. This bypasses any company DNS entries so whenever a user signs into VPN they cannot resolve local addresses.

There is a workaround to manually enter a different DNS server but is there a way for the VPN client to specify local DNS servers upon connecting to the VPN?

Much thanks.

Yes, you can configure local dns server on the VPN group-policy.

Under group-policy for your particular VPN:

dns-server value

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply.

Can I just add this line in the .pcf file? If not, where does it go?

Much thanks!

No you can't.

All VPN Client settings are being pushed from the VPN server. This needs to be added on the VPN server end, not on the client end.
