forming VPNs

Dear Experts,

I want to form a remote VPN using my android mobile which has in build VPN options , I do not want to use any VPN applications.

Can anyone please explain me what device would be the best one to configure a VPN server.

Would it be good to go with cisco ASA or ISR router.

What if I use the above mention devices, then will I be able to connect to the VPN server using my android or IOS device in build VPN options.

Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciable.

Thanks

Rashid

Hi Mohammed,

I would suggest to go for Anyconnect on Mobile devices configuration on the ASA or the ISR router depending on the number of users and the device model.

Anyconnect is one of the latest VPN solutions and you have a lot of options to work on while using Anyconnect on the mobile devices:

Hi Aditya,

Thanks for your reply.

Is it not possible to form a VPN using Android in build VPN options.

Can you please shed some light on this.

Thanks

Hi Mohamed,

Yes you go for the L2tp/IPSEC VPN.

More info:

Hi Aditya,

What if I use a cisco SA 500 series Appliances, as my business is small.

Would I be still able to connect to this device using android in build VPN.

Does this device support below mention VPN option for remote access

OR can you please suggest me any cisco device that should give me wireless  option and it should support below top 5 VPN option

IPsec Xauth RSA

IPsec Xauth PSK

IPsec hybrid RSA

L2TP/IPsec PSK

L2TP/IPsec RSA

PPTP

IPsec IKEv2 PSK

IPsec IKEv2 RSA

Hi,

Yes SA 500 would support these options but it is EOL/EOS so you can go for a small end ASA that would support all these features.

Aditya
