Hi
I have been given the task of changeing some settings on a router and knowing very little would like to appeal for help.
Scenario is as follows. Router is Cisco 1700. I need to change the ISDN interface so that different p.cs in the office can connect to a remote site. I have the tel. no and username/password for the remote site. The remote site is a isdn modem which connects to a p.c which is connected to a lan. The remote p.c has dynamic IP.
Please could someone help, bearing in mind that I do not know much about configuring routers and if any other info is required.
Thanks
Angelo

Hello Angelo,
it might be easiest if you post the configuration of your 1700, that way, we could try and add the commands necessary.

Having the config is helpful so we thank you for posting it. I have a couple of questions and comments about the change that you plan to make. Currently the router is dialing to a host N40MAX1 which is associated with a particular phone number, name, and password. Is the change that you are going to make to replace N40MAX1 or is this to be something in addition to the existing one? If the new destination is to replace the old one then you probably can just make changes under interface bri 0. But if the new one is to be in addition to the existing one then it might be best to configure dialer profiles.
When you say that the remote PC has dynamic IP I am not sure if you mean on its LAN interface or on its ISDN interface. If it is on the ISDN interface does that mean that you should set up an address pool so that you can assign an address to the remote device?
I notice that there are several static routes defined which point to the next hop address of the existing bri 0 interface. Will those same addresses be reachable through the new connection (what is happening to the connection to them)?

Hi Rick
1. I need to replace the existing N40MAX1.
2. The connection on the other side is a ISDN modem, not a router, connected to a pc. I don't have enough knowledge to know if I should therefore assign an address to this device.
3. The static routes will stay the same, but the next hop address no longer exists so this part then will also have to be changed (I think)to enable any pc locally to connect to any one of the static routes.
