I was just wondering if I can run a VPN any other way from home to work other than using the Cisco VPN client?
I have a Cisco 877 router for home, when I connect to work I use the Cisco VPN client and connect to my Cisco ASA firewall. When I'm finished I just disconnect from via the Cisco VPN client.
I have setup site-to-site VPN's before at work using static IP's and they are fine, but these have to stay up and connected at all times. So I though is is possible to not use the Cisco VPN client and somehow use the Cisco 877 to bring up a Isakmp/IPSec tunnel to work when the "interested" traffic is generated and then close the tunnel when not used? So it almost like using the software Cisco VPN client but not and instead using the hardware.
