HWIC-Cable-D2 and Comcast

I just installed a HWIC-CABLE-D2 in a 2811 router and connected it to Comcast's nework. The connection works.

However the show controllers cable-modem command tells me it is operating in DOCSIS 1.0 mode. How do i get it to operate in DOCSIS 2.0 mode? Comcast tells me it is not their configuration that is in issue.

Here are a couple of DOCS that should help. It looks like the DOCSIS file should configure the versions. That is configured by the Cable providor.

Hope this helps

Have you ever tried the DOCSIS 2.0 cm config file?

Calbe modem also should be configured locally?

How did you get the cable HWIC to work on the Comcast network? Any special config. They are telling me the cable HWIC is not supported on their network and they will offer no assistence.

Thanks,

Bryce

After spending long hours on the phone with several "clueless" Comcast technical support folks I learned the following:

1) Their networks is DOCSIS 1.1 so there is no value in running the HWIC in DOCSIS 2.0 mode.

2) They do not support the Cisco HWIC, but no matter since the config file they download to the modem is generic and if they register your modem as a Cisco UBR925 "which as been upgraded to run in docic 1.1 mode" it will register and work.

Sweet. I'm going to try this today! Thanks a load for your help!

Bryce

Let me know how it goes and good luck
