Hyperterminal connect using Cisco IP Communicator

We use POTS lines with modems connected to the AUX port to access our remote routers for troubleshooting when the WAN link fails. Which for us is cheaper than having a low-cost DSL circuit for this purpose. Our current solution requires us to have a POTS line with modem (say in our PC) to call out via Hyperterminal to that remote sites modem. We can establish a VPN connection to our infrastructure and confirmed that our Cisco IP Communicator (softphone) functions and was curious of a way to have Hyperterminal or similar application use the IP Communicator to establish the connection to our remote offices POTS line with modem to access our routers. Has anyone done this or know of an application that would work with the Cisco IP Communitor for this purpose? Thanks.

You cannot enable IPCP to work as a modem or support a "soft modem". It is simply not possible to do that.

You can however,  install a virtual COM driver to remotely use a modem or a pool of modems installed somewhere else. There are verious software makes thta have such a product.
