Hi,
We've a ISDN connection which cannot be established.
I've attached the debug from ppp, nego and q931
What could be the problem?
Regards,
Rob

I have looked at the file that you posted. Based on what is there I would believe that you are communicating properly with the ISDN switch. And the connect and connect-ack messages make me think that the remote device at least went off hook. But I do not see any evidence that the remote device ever communicated with you. Is it possible to get information about what is happening on the other end when you attempt to place this call?
I also note the message indicating that there is no authentication for the outbound call. I wonder if that is intended. Perhaps you could post part of the config of your router.

Rick,
We've left the authentication part out on purpose so we didn't have to worry about that part, first get it on speaking terms and build from there. I'm not able to debug the other side because it's not under our administration.

If the other side is not under your administration it makes it more difficult. Can you get assistance from them on this issue?
As I interpret the output that you posted, you are placing the call without error (judging by the Q931 messages and the connect and connect-ack). You attempt to initiate LCP (Link Control Protocol) and you send several messages attempting to initiate LCP. You never get a response from the device on the other end. While it is possible that this is due to some problem on your end, I am more inclined to think that the issue is on the other end.

Hi there,
I'm having exactly the same problem with one of our sites. And as I have access to both sides of the connection it looks even worse. I can establish the connection from one end, but from the other site connection never gets established. Both routers are sending CONFREQs, but neither side responds to it.
I've recently opened a TAC case on it, and I looking forward to come-out of it.

I am sorry that you are experiencing similar problems. If you have a TAC case open I hope that the TAC will find the problem and a solution for you. If you want to post the router configs from both sides and the debug output that you have, we could also take a look at it and might be able to make some suggestions.

Hi,
Our problem is solved. The ISDN router on the other side was connected on a PABX. He's now connected outside of the telecom switch and it runs fine now. We've also included usernames and passwords.
Thanks for the responses.
