Hi again!
You wouldnt by any chance try to determine the connectivity by using ICMP?
If yes (and even if not) please add the following configuration on both of the ASAs
policy-map global_policy
class inspection_default
inspect icmp
This will automatically allow ICMP Echo reply messages to pass the firewall. Otherwise the might get blocked by the ASA
Otherwise your configurations seem correct to me.
It seems traffic is generated from "Town" to "Water" ASA. However either the return traffic from host behind "Water" gets blocked or the host behind "Water" doesnt allow the connection
Reasons might include (that the host doesnt reply)

Actually these IP's are all over the place. I just inherited this at lunch time, spent about 2 hours setting the tunnel up and expected once i saw Phase2 negotiate that I was home free.
Good catch on the ICMP, hadn't even noticed. So yes, i was pinging from both sides to test connectivity and generate traffic. I have remote access (LogMeIn) to 192.168.100.34 on the Town side. And 192.168.1.20 on the Water side.
Looking a little closer at these 2 servers now however, these networks aren't what they appear.
On the Town network, the ASA is the default gateway:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.100.34
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.100.254
On the Water side it's not the ASA:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.20
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
These 2 boxes should be able to ping each other but I think i may have more than a single issue.
From Town i have no route to Water:
C:\>tracert -d 192.168.1.20
Tracing route to 192.168.1.20 over a maximum of 30 hops
1 * * * Request timed out.
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 ^C
From Water I'm just being sent out the default gateway:
C:\>tracert -d 192.168.100.34
Tracing route to 192.168.100.34 over a maximum of 30 hops
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1
2 34 ms 60 ms 28 ms 10.110.192.1
3 10 ms 8 ms 8 ms 24.93.8.98
4 13 ms 66 ms 9 ms 72.230.153.56
5 15 ms 18 ms 18 ms 72.230.153.245
6 * * ^C
(in other words never even hitting the ASA)
No windows firewalls are enabled, configs look correct, other than the default gateway thing
So i ran a packet tracer and got this, which made me think i had my rules incorrect.

Hi,
It seems almost like the other location has some other Internet Router/Device to which the default gateway of the computer points to. This is further backed up by the fact that the ASA has no sort of default PAT rule for Internet traffic. Only the NAT0 rule. So it seems it has never been used for Internet traffic. There must be some other Internet router? Do you have access to it?
Is that hosts network settings configured staticly?
I guess you could try to first check the route table of the actual host computer with "route print"
You could even consider configuring a permanent static route on the host for the remote LAN network pointing towards the ASA. Obviously this isnt ideal at all but might help with the troubleshooting and after thats done it would be easier to plan how to correct the situation and make it simpler.
If you have access to the "possible" router in the network you could use it to route the traffic to the ASA when heading to the remote LAN.
Regarding the packet-tracer command. I dont really trust what its says when trying to simulate a situation when traffic is supposed to enter from the L2L VPN connection through the "outside" interface. Testing the traffic from "inside" to the L2L VPN should always though provide correct information if the traffic is forwarded to the L2L VPN.
The traceroute might be stopping on the ASA. Not 100% sure.

I was beating myself up over the rules but it IS correct. I thought it had to be the outside interface for a tunnel when you traced the packet
And your thought on the original ICMP above, I think you're on the money. I was just starting to put that together myself....and I've been on this all afternoon! You're fast.
I'm giong to see what i can do poking around on that 192.168.1.20 box, but its remote and I don't want to lose connectivity. I'm still waiting to here back about the gateway on that subnet. Part of the hassle with my job, not usually my setup, and almost always have limited access and limited info
Thanks for your help as always.

Still waiting to hear back about that one gateway, but i took a gamble, and get this....removed a bogus static route on that server....then added mine to point back to the ASA for the 192.168.100.0 network and essentially everything just started working! The one server that I put the static on is the only device that needs access to the tunnel so i'm ok with just leaving it that way. Just wanted to follow up that it's all fixed. Thanks for the insights.

Hi,
Great that its working.
Always good to get the final information arter a problem thats been solved. Might possibly help someone else troubleshoot their problematic situation.
