PPPoe Configuration Error???

GREGORY JACKSON
Level 1
Level 1

I have a PPPoe configuration that I followed from the cisco website.

I am getting an encapsulation error when trying to connect. I know that the VTC connection works because when we replaced the router with a sonicwall firewall the VTC worked. I am pasting my configuration as well as the error message I received with a "debug ip packet" command because the "debug dilaer packets" DOES not display everything.

See below my configuration and debug output..

Hi Gregory,

Please check your dialer1 is up/up.

Perhaps there is a problem with the authentication.

debug ppp authen will display any issues.

regards,

Leo

I used the commands and there was no ppp authentication error messages.. only the same as before. HTe dialer interfaces are up/up...

Please check the guidelines in the attached document:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk175/tk15/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080093fbf.shtml

This will help you troubleshooting the problem.

Hope it helps you out.

regards,

Leo

Your authentication states chap but you are sending PAP?

ppp pap sent-username whatever password password

Try = ppp chap password

Also for your LAN - I would config the VLAN 1 interface apply inside here and utlise the FastEthernet0/0/0 interface

Paul
