QoS on 7200 LNS for PPPoX

Folks,

I need a little clarification.

We have a set of 7200's that run as an LNS to various PPPoA and PPPoE clients dotted about the place.  These are authenticated via RADIUS and exit the router on various VRF's to find their destinations.  All works very well.

We are looking at implementing a QoS policy on the 7200 LNS being pushed out via the RADIUS server, which we've tested and know works fine.  The question that I have is about how the QoS policy will behave:

The QoS policy will be applied to the various Virtual-Access interfaces as the users connect and will be applied for downloading of traffic specifically.  What is the best way to build the policy?  The reason I ask is that I'm unsure as to how the traffic will act as it exits the router on the downstream gig ethernet link.  Is there a QoS policy that needs to be created on that physical link too?

Has anyone implemented this sort of configuration and if so, what are the lessons learned?  Did you go with "bandwidth" for the QoS and shape out 100 percent of the link on the Virtual-Access?  I'm looking to ensure throughput in times of congestion, but dont want to police the interfaces down all of the time.

Any thoughts or comments?

Hi Leigh

I was wondering if you can post your comments after you tried setting this up in the 7200.

I am running ver 12.4 and can't get much information around, however I found a couple of posts saying the feature is not supported.

any comments would be appreciated.
