Hi,

Can I configure 1700 series router ( or any Cisco router ) to be VPN server for Windows XP clients.

Secondly if on this router a multicast packet is received ( on Ethernet )can this router be configured to send this multicast packet to all VPN clients currenly in the VPN pool.

Thanks

Yes, you can set it up as a IPSec or PPTP VPN server, see here for details:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk583/tk372/technologies_configuration_example09186a00800ab518.shtml

Note this is for a PIX acting as a VPN client connecting into a router, but the config on the router is exactly the same for standard IPSec VPN clients.

If you just want to use the standard Windows XP PPTP VPN, then you can set up the router as such:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk827/tk369/technologies_configuration_example09186a00801e51e2.shtml

No it will not forward multicast packets out to all clients in either setup.
