I had a similar problem bring up a VPN tunnel from an ASA 5510 to Sonic Wall.  Please try this.

crypto isakmp identity address 

my was set to hostname as soon as I changed it to address it came up. 

You can do this too

crypto isakmp identity auto

let me know if that works
