Smart tunnels on Cisco ASA

Hi Folks,

Just looking for some insight on Smart Tunnel configuration on the Cisco ASA.

Basically my issue is that since I enabled Smart tunnels for certain application access, Internet Explorer spans a new window. Since this new window runs a different process ID, the Smart Tunnel does not function. However when I use other browsers, (Firefox, Chrome) it just spans another tab, and the application works as expected. Does anyone know of a workaround to deal with this with IE? I'm kinda stuck, but I don't want to give up as it seems like I am so close to having this working.

any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick

If you are using IE 7 or 8, you can check it to use tab instead of new windows as well.

Tools->Internet Options->In General Tab, click settings in Tabs.

If you make the above change, are you still see the problme in IE?

Yes I have tried this. When I set the option "When a pop-up is encountered" to open in new tab, it doesn't create a new browser window, however it also doesn't route the traffic via the smart tunnel. Any other thoughts?
