Symantec to PIX firewall vpn compatability issues

We have an issue with passing smtp through a vpn tunnel between a Symantec Raptor firewall and a PIX 525. We have connectivity between subnets as we can ping.

Furthermore we can telnet on port 25 in one direction with no problems but when we telnet from the other side the replies come back corrupted.

Has anyone come across this kind of situation before and if so could youhelp shed some light on it please?

I could find two bugs that deal with PIX to Raptor issues. See if they help. One is bug CSCdz31173 ' IKE deletes wrong SA if delete message sent on a different SA'. Please also see bug CSCdy68188. As per the bug pix and rator/symantec run into interop issue while rekeying.
