A couple questions regarding licensing for ASA and the UC Phone Proxy licenses.
1. If I purchase a block of 24 UC Phone Proxy licenses for the ASA 5510, am I able to add more in blocks of 24 as needed?
2. If/When we outgrow the ASA 5510 and move up to the ASA 5520 or 5540, can I transfer the Phone Proxy licenses to the new ASA?
Thanks in advance.

1. Yes, you can purchase upgrade UC user license for ASA 5510, with a maximum of 100 UC users for ASA5510. You can't however purchase a 24 user UC license to be added to the existing 24 user license. You would need to purchase an upgrade license from 24 to 50 or from 24 to 100 user license.

2. No, the license is tied into the serial# of your existing ASA, and it is not transferable. Here is the URL for your reference:

Thank you for the helpful answer. This does make me ask one other question though. Since no licenses are transferrable, what about hardware failure of existing ASA? Does a hardware failure also mean that any/all additional licenses purchased for the platform are also gone?

License is transferable in the event of hardware failure. When you proceed with the RMA, Cisco keeps track of the serial# of the faulty device and the serial# of the replacement device, and you can transfer the license as per the RMA.
