Hi, I'm having some problems installing the VPN client (version 4.6....0049) on my WinXP Pro and after having searched google and this forum, I've decided I need to post a message.
The error pops up when I'm about halfway throught the installation, just as it is about to install the DNE. The error message is as follows:
DNE 2000 Network Config has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Error signature:
szAppName : dne2000.exe szAppVer : 2.21.9.237 szModName : msvcrt.dll
szModVer : 7.0.2600.2180 offset : 00037e9f
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1F.tmp.dir00\dne2000.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1F.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt
InstallDNE
Error: Dneinst execution error while installing DNE, returncode -1073741819
I'm at a loss here. I tried installing the vpn client before installing sp2 and tried again after but nothing helped. I've scanned for vira as these have been known to generate that specific return code. I've uninstalled my printer software as this also is known to generate certain errors.
I should also add, that I've tried with two different downloads of the VPN Client, so it's not corrupt files..
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated..
Sincerely
Maya

Hi Maya,
I'm having the exact problem that you reported. Did you ever get a resolution to this error? If so can you please forward the fix to me.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
I'm sorry to report that I still have the problem. I've got the networking guys at my company on it and I hope they might have a solution (some fine day) but until then I have to live without..
But I promise you, the minute (if ever) I find a solution, I'll post it here :)

Have you found a solution in the meantime?
I have a client with the same problem. I have asked them to try uninstalling the DNE in the network settings of the PC. I have not heard back if this works. If that does not work, I don't know what else to try. Maybe try to remove all traces of DNE in the registry ...?

Similar problems I had were fixed as follows:
1) If a PC was part of a domain, I had to make the domain user part of the local administrators' group.
2) I had to totally uninstall any antivirus, personal firewall and adware removers, install the VPN client and then reinstall whatever I removed before (except Panda's firewall which was still causing problems after re-installing it).
Hope I could help.
