I currently have AnyConnect VPN Client for Windows version 2.5.2014 on my Windows 7 32 bit machine. Some of the gateways that I connect to require 3.0.1047, on connecting to one of these anyconnect-win-3.0.1047-web-deploy-k9.exe was downloaded onto my machine. When this runs it displays this message
There is, in fact a copy of Winsetup-Release-web-deploy.msi at that location, but the installer will not use it. If I choose Cancel, then this message is shown.
I have tried removing 2.5.2014 both using control panel and a proprietry software removal program, but I still get the same situation when trying to upgrade the client. The original version re-installs without problem.
I have administrator rights on the machine and have run "Take ownership" on every file that seems relevant.

Hello Keith,
Please reboot the computer and uninstall the client in safe mode using Ccleaner.
If possible, delete the AnyConnect client's registry key* and then run the registry cleaner (Ccleaner tool).
Then, reload the computer and try to install the AnyConnect 3.0 software.
Please try to install the client through the Web browser if the manual way fails.
*Be very careful, since it may cause other issues.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Thanks for posting on CSC.

I get the same errors reported above. Using Windows 7 but different Anyconnect version. I tried your suggestion of uninstall in Safe Mode with CCleaner, but the errors are still the same. I have tried installing VPN Client 5 and that too will not run. Any suggestions?

Did you ever figure out a fix? We have a machine that has run into the same issue but running WIndows 7 x64 trying to go to AnyConnect 3.1.

I have exactly the same problem in Vista 64-bit. When I try to install the current version of Anyconnect, the installer says that I am trying to use a web resource that is not available and requests for a location of Winsetup-release-web-deploy.msi, which cannot be found with Search from the computer. I have deleted all Cisco-referencing entries from the registry, deleted all cisco files that I find, deleted all entries from All programs, and Cisco programs no longer appear in the list of installed programs.

Try Revo Uninstaller. I had the same problem, and running Uninstall in Advanced Mode cleaned it right up, allowing me to install the client without so much as a reboot!
