VPN Client Auto Update

Has anyone ever successfully gotten the Client update feature to work on a 3000 series concentrator. I've followed the step-by-step instructions to the "T", have all of the major update files on my webserver, and still get this in my client autoupdate folder logs:

Autoupdate was unable to get file size out of http header

Autoupdate failed to download file binary_config.ini

Autoupdate has send IPC to service

I noticed Cisco references a "binary.zip" file that is supposedly included but it IS NOT!!!

Looks like HTTP version issue.

What does "unable to get file size out of http header " mean? May be some information is missing in the http header.

I have it working in a test environment. Your error messages don't mean anything to me but I wanted to at least let you know it works for both software and hardware clients although the process between the two types is markedly different.

If it is an HTTP compatibility issue (assuming you are updating software clients here), I am using Win2K3 for my web server and the file is a simple self-extracting .zip file. No issues at all with this setup.

I wish I knew what the issue was. I've done everything the instructions ask for. I have it on a w2k box, which takes away from the IIS 6 complexity issues, so I'm not sure.

Could you give me an example of the files you have on your webserver so I could compare mine?

look at your IIS logs if you see somthing like this

my workaround was to

1) unzip all files from update-xx.zip into folder. 2) Add MIME types in IIS(right click on server name in IIS manager console) for all files that are included .dat .ini as application/octet-stream

3) point to https:/ip_addr:port/folder/

Yeah I finally got it working. I had to add the MIME types for all the files just like you said.

I've been watching this post closely as I have the same issue. Did anyone ever resolve the issue that there is no binary.zip file in the updates? How did you overcome that?

I didn't need it. I don't know why they referenced it in their Admin Guide. All you need is binary.ini.

Has anyone seen the issue where the VPN client will download the auto update but when you click "Install Now" that window will lock up?

The install will not continue until you End Task that window and disconnect and exit the VPN client..
