Hello,
I have a very strange problem that only appears between two Cisco routers. The connection between the PPTP-client and PPTP-server hangs at the verification of username and password and returns Error code 721 (Remote PPP peer is not responding). The link between the client and server looks like this:
PPTP-client Cisco(1) Internet Cisco(2) PPTP-server
PPTP-client = Windows XP Service Pack 2
PPTP-server = Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (running RRAS)
And now over to remarkable things:
If I change the PPTP-client from Windows XP SP2 to Windows 2000 SP4 it working.
If I change Cisco(1) to a netgear router it working.
If I change Cisco(2) to a netgear router it working.
The PPTP-client can (without any problems) connection to other PPTP-servers on the Internet.
A PPTP-client from the Internet can (without any problems) connect to the PPTP-server.
Cisco(1) = Cisco Router 1812
Cisco(2) = Cisco Router 871
Med vänlig hälsning/Kindest Regards

I've been having this problem for ages right from ios version 12.3 to 12.4 (latest).
The problem is seen in 837 and 877, both of which i've configured.
Not sure whether the cisco folks are looking into this long-standing problem.
