VPN not working

I have a client who's VPN suddenly stopped working. They are behind a PIX. I have not gone on site to get specifics yet, what steps should I take to troubleshoot the issue?

I'm thinking of attempting connection from another machine, attempting to connect on the other side of the PIX, anything else?

I'm a newbie to cisco but love what I've used so far!

I believe that you got no answer because you have to provide some more details.

How is the VPN configured? PIX <-> PIX ? IPsec, GRE...?

Please provide some more details.
