Here is our scenario: We have a potential of 70,000

customers sending us files daily to our 3030 concentrator. That concentrator is connected to an

isolated Mainframe. As soon as those files hit the

isolated Mainframe we will be moving them over to

our protected Mainframe using FTP and our scheduling package ESP. This feels wrong and I was wondering if anyone was facing this situation and if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Without knowing the bigger picture, it feels complicated. Can’t the remote clients deliver right to the mainframe they’re destined for? Is one of the mainframes outside a firewall or something? If so, once they’re decrypted and put back on that wire (with FTP), it might be defeating the purpose of the encryption in the first place. Has your SE assessed the situation yet?
