VRRP between VPN Concentrators

I have 2 VPN Concentrators at 2 different geographic locations. Both these locations are connected with a P-to-P link and share the LAN on the private side. However, the public internet access at both these locations is through two different ISPs on the ISP specific IP Space.

Can I run VRRP between these concentrators, and use them as hot standby for each other? I'm specifically concerned if I can run VRRP on the public interface, and if so, which of the two ISP IP address would I be able to use as Virtual IP address for both the public interfaces.

Thanks for help!

Hi,

VRRP can be used on the LAN side if both routers

are part of the same subnet, this will provide host resilience on the LAN.

You should not need it on the Public interfaces.

As it's designed to protect the LAN.
