windows logon on xp client 3.6

with client 3.6 using xp, theres an option for windos logon saying "enable start before logon"..when we do that, vpn stars first before loging on to the domain..

what i wanted is, to be able to logon to the domain without restarting, thereby not putting a chekmark on the "enable start before logon"...but how can i logon?
