Hello,
I am an IT administrator for a 501c(3) organization that uses Webex to present organization updates both to internal staff as well as external guests. External guests are regularly unfamiliar with certain features of Webex, so this problem cannot be solved simply through further education of staff, as there will always be new users on our calls. The content menu has become a serious obstacle for our organization, firstly, the fact that it is tucked away in the far corner of the interface, second, the fact that it does not appear at all via the mobile interface, and third, the fact that uploaded files can neither be linked in the chat nor do they notify any participant that a file has been uploaded at all. This results in speakers having to attempt to screen share their Webex interface and direct attendees to the content menu in the corner and point out the uploaded files.
This issue could be solved in many ways:
- Move the content menu out of the ellipses "..." menu on the right, as there are very few other items contained within the menu for most users. What should be a prominently featured button is instead hidden behind a generic "more options" menu.
- Implement a notification icon/popup that appears when a file has been uploaded. This feature is already present for the chat window. It makes sense to include it for file transfers as well.
- Allow users to attach files that have been uploaded to the content menu within the chat window.
- Forego the content window entirely and allow files to be uploaded directly in the chat window.
Right now, the combination of a hidden menu & lack of notifications is making it virtually impossible for meeting attendees to find downloads during meetings. I understand that a fix may take time, but this is a badly-needed accessibility feature which would improve our organization's experience using Webex overall.
