This event is an opportunity to discuss about the changes in work and learning habits that we would face in the following months. We have been in a "roller coaster" of experiences to be able to have collaborative meetings and products, or in the academic field, to be able to engage students in a little-known format, "Distance Collaboration".

To participate in this event, please use the Join the Discussion : Cisco Ask the Expertbutton below to ask your questions

We have many staff and students with poor internet connections.  How can attendees and hosts insure a successful meeting and engagement when these issues occur?

Response Signature

Hello Kathy,

There are 3 possible scenarios which depends of your Internet Connection:

1.- Strong WIFI/4G
Here you can have the best experience:

  • Turn on your video Camera this will engage your attendees.
  • Share your screen and use powerful presentations tools like https://www.pretzi.com/
  • Use your VoIP with your computer and ensure have “noise removal” enabled, this feature will avoid distractions.

2.- Weak WIFI/4G
Do not miss a thing:

  • Turn off your Camera, but try to engage the attendance with “gamification” techniques.
  • Close unnecessary applications, release CPU and Memory Power to your computer.
  • Share content BEFORE the call, not live, upload your presentation instead to share in the meeting.

3.- NO WiFI/4G
Stay in the conversation:

  • Use your phone for “audio only”
  • Find dial-in numbers in your meeting invite
  • Mute your phone
  • Use “noise removal” in your phone

Always the use of a Cisco Headset will enhance the experience..!

Hi,

Thinking of a strategy for the "Work of the Future", what components should we consider?

Rgds

Hello Jessica,

  • Always the people at the center. Collaboration is always with people, we must have a meeting experience "equal to or better than being present."
  • Let's consider new workspaces with technologies that enhance the meeting experience like "noise suppression", "meeting transcripts", and so on.
  • Workflows must be aligned and consistent no matter where the work is done.
  • Work styles changed, so the co-existence of hybrid work is important.
  • Always consider that the meetings should be COGNITIVE, SAFE and PERSPICACIOUS.

Hello arprieto@cisco.com

In the short term, what are the advantages of working remotely?

thank you,

Olivier

Note: This question is a translation of a post originally created in French by Olipo. It has been translated by Cisco Community to share the inquiry and its solution in different languages.

Good morning Olipo

The advantages of short-term remote work would be as follows:

  • Employee Productivity Increasement, even in telecommuting or "Home Office" mode.
  • Winning "The Talent War", after having set up a good PRODUCTIVE and COLLABORATIVE Remote Work structure, which will attract talents in different geographical areas.
  • Workspace Optimization in company buildings.
  • Customer Experience Improvement, regardless of their location or mode of access / contact.

Hi Arturo,

According to your experience, what do you consider to be the challenges for the Future of Remote Work?

Alain

In my perspective, the main challenges are:

  • The evolution of the workforce: Applications must be designed to be intuitive and inclusive for any type of generation (Baby Boomers, X Generation, Millenials, Z Generation).
  • The Nature of Work: Current generations tend to move collaborative work more towards cloud architectures.
  • Flexibility Demand: Workspaces have been transformed and moved to employees' homes, if you don't have the tools and infrastructure, productivity will be threatened.
  • Technological Disruption: The resistance or ignorance of the use of technological innovations that improve the meeting experience.

Good afternoon,

At the beginning of the Pandemic, what was the degree of digitization of companies?

Thank you

In January 2020, only 84% of corporations had investment in Remote Collaboration as a priority in the digitization process. When we have the start of routine activities remotely, the number of companies accelerated, even permeating residential users.

Thank you so much!

Is there any document that we can consult regarding statistics?

Thanks again
