What is Difference Between Android Webex app & Android Webex Meetings

In Google Play there is a Webex app and a Webex Meetings app. Which one should be used? Are they the same?

The main difference between the Android Webex app and Android Webex Meetings is their functionality.

• Android Webex Meetings is a specific app focused solely on conducting meetings. It allows users to join, host, and participate in meetings, but lacks the additional features like messaging and file access found in the Webex app.

In essence, the Webex app provides a broader range of functions beyond meetings, while Webex Meetings is tailored specifically for hosting and attending meetings.

We see this as well and just have users install both apps. This has been years in process and is quite comical that it's taking so long... Unless I'm missing something. The doc below is from 2020, for reference.

The single Webex experience will first be delivered for our desktop application. We recommend
mobile users download the Webex mobile app in addition to their Webex Meetings mobile app.
This gives them access to messaging and other great features on the go. If a user clicks to join
meetings from the Webex mobile app, it will automatically launch Webex Meetings. Over time,
users will be able to remove the Webex Meetings mobile app as features are added to Webex
mobile app.

The Webex Meetings app is for meetings only. To enjoy the full Webex experience including messaging and calling ontop you should use the Webex app.

Unfortunately the answer is a little more complicated. Webex Meetings app is indeed meetings/webinars only; however, any customer meeting site that has been migrated to the newer Webex Suite Meeting Platform must use the newer Webex app. The Webex app cannot join meetings on the older platform and webinars still needs the Webex Meetings app for now; most users need both apps in the near term. Hopefully a year from now the Webex Meetings app can ride off into the sunset.
