Hi,
I am new to WiFi and I hope you could clear things out for me. I have 7 networks,on open field, distance from my location to each network around 10 miles. 3 networks uses linksys hardware, 2 networks Edimax hardware and 2 networks SMC hardware. I developed software and 2 motorized mast, first mast adjusts best antennaA position to connect to one of those 7 networks, the second motorized mast adjusts sencond antennaB by tracking my possition (GPS).
I have solid idea how to accomplish that, but it might be very silly and here I need your advice:
To accomplish the task I am planning to purchase:
1x 14dBi Vertically polarized Antenna AIR-ANT2414S-R
1x 21dBi Solid Dish ANT3338
1x Air Net 350 PCI adapter
1x Cisco ??? access point
1x x86 PC WindowsXP or Redhat EL3
And I am planning to:
Mount and connect 14dBi antennaA to Air Net 350 PCI adapter, Mount and connect 21dBi antennaB to Cisco Access Point and share AirNet adapter connection with Ethernet card where Access Point connected.
----------------------------
I am worried that:
1) It might not possible and it might not work, perhaps there is a simpler solution for that or to expencive for my budget I am planning to spend max 2.5k.
2) Perhaps I could use 1 antenna instead of 2, AIR-ANT2414S-R beam width is pretty wide and its spec is good enough for me, however about using repeater or bridge, I tried several brands to repeate/boost the signal from Linksys access point, but non works. (Linksys does not have Bridge or Repeater options, it is just a simple Access Point and I can not replace it)
3) I might wrong and it might be impossible and silly to connect antennas such AIR-ANT3338 to any cisco access points and AIR-ANT2414S-R to AirNet 350 adapter
4) I might never recieve signal to my PDA or laptop at the distance 20 or more miles, even if 21dBi DISH correctly adjusted to my location,
I would apreciate any advice or suggestions,
Thank your for reading,
Sean.

You might want to use 5.8ghz frequency range between 2 nodes enable to achieve line of sight. With 2.5k budget, it is really hard to deploy 10miles wireless link. There are some wireless vendor that offer product more than 20miles range, but the price at least 3-9 k each node. By the way, I might be able to give some solution with 2.5k budget. I help you to make custom wireless bridge with full duplex, using seperate freq for RX and TX. Since this is cisco forum, I think you better email me at yoyon@airnetjustwireless.net (put subject: RX/TX).
Thanks
