A Mesh AP 1500 does not join the WLC and the "[ERROR] spam_lrad.c 4573: LWAPP Join-Request Bridge Failed for AP" error message appears in the debug log

Core Issue

The MAC address of the Mesh Access Point 1500 (MAP) is not added to the MAC filter table. The #debug lwapp events enable debug command can output these results:

• spam_lrad.c 4108:LWAPP Join-Request AUTH_STRING_PAYLOAD, invalid BRIDGE key hash AP
  
  
• spam_lrad.c 4573:LWAPP Join-Request Bridge Authentication Failed for AP
  
  
• spam_crypto.c 1509: Unable to free public key for AP 
  
  
• spam_lrad.c 1433: spamProcessJoinRequest : spamDecodeJoinReq failed

Resolution

Various solution exists for this error message

1. Complete these steps:

   Add the MAC address of the MAP to the MAC filter table. In order to do this, choose securiyt > AAA > Mac Filtering > Mac Address / Wlan Id.
   
   
      
2.   
   Make sure it adds successfully under AP details, which can also show that the IP address of the AP is disabled.
   
   
      
3.   
   Change the WLC from Layer 2 to Layer 3 mode.
   
   
      
4.   
   Now the correct IP address of the AP displays.
