and pay special attention to reply #5. Any new firmware is not announced until it is released. Sorry, but we are just as in the dark on release dates as you.

Not really looking for confirmation about specific firmware in progress ( altho that would answer my question) .. question is really if Cisco is still supporting this version such that they would be developing any new/maintenance releases of firmware for this model .. ? The latest release seems to have stabilized the product and resolved a few issues , but .. for the longer term ...

the v1 and v2 are still supported and not end of life as of yet. You can expect Cisco to continue to develop on the products until they are listed on the end of life/ end of sale/ end of support web page. Only after the products are listed as end of life will the firmware cease to be updated.
