Hi everybody,
I'm a french cisco solutions user since three month and I've got problem with one IP phone (cisco 7921). I can't find informatrion in France relative to my problem so I leave a message in this forum.
I explain: One of my 7921 phones disconnect ten time an hour and during conversations. Sometimes, people who call on this phone are redirected to the answer message.
This phone is connected through WIFI network and Cisco Callmanager 4.2 manage all phones (we have about 80 phones on the network). I thought it was a problem with the phone but I exchange with another one and it's exactely the same problem. The problem is just for a line in particular.
All the 7921g phones in my company are configured from mac address in the call manager.
This problem occured after a storm but I'm not really sure that it's related to...
have you ever encountered this problem ?
Thank you in advance,
Stephane Hardy

I have seen this behavior - and related symptoms - if the WLAN is has a coverage hole or other misconfiguration. The only answer I can really provide for such a general/broad problem report is to refer you to the Voice over Wireless LAN Design Guide. VoWiFi is extremely touchy and requires a carefully engineered wireless network for reliable performance. You may want to consider moving this thread into the wireless area of the forum if you need more specific wireless troubleshooting assistance.
One easy way you can watch for this is to set the Out-of-Range Alert on the Device Configuration of your 7921 within CUCM. The phone will beep whenever it looses contact with the AP. This isn't an end-to-end test, all it can do is draw attention to a lose of contact with the AP.

Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for the answer. The solution you propose (show when the user is out of range) may be a good idea. Indeed, it could be a wifi antenna problem and not a phone problem. Perhaps the storm has damaged the wifi antenna or a coverage hole or other misconfiguration as you say.
I check it today and tell you my test results for the end of this week.
regards,
Stéphane
