Too many wireless access points around in 2.4 Ghz

Hi Mates,

I'm using 2.4 Ghz wireless for Apple audio devices. There is no way to use 5 Ghz. And There are lots of access points in 2.4 Ghz around.

Is there any way to improve 2.4 Ghz isolation? I am using real time audio via Wireless and I hear lots of dropping in my audio.

I am using Cisco WAP321 for this work. Also I was trying to use Cisco 1142 but have the same result with quality of wireless.

Thanks for help in advance.

Hello,

What you are experiencing is a very common issues nowadays, too many wireless signals and too few channels and most of them overlap.

The only recommendation I can give you is to run a scan of the wireless network and try to find a channel that is empty or , at least, not so congested and change your network to that channel, but this is pretty basic and it is very likely you tried it already.

Unfortunately there is nothing else that you can configure on the AP as it is not a AP issues but an environmental one.

Short of moving to a 5 Ghz solution or covering your walls with "Wi-Fi proof wallpaper" (yes, it is a real thing), there is really nothing else that can be done.

I hope this helps.

My name Eric Moyers. I am an Engineer in the Small Business Support Center.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. As my colleague, Carlos was saying this is a very common issue with 2.4 nowadays. Just out of curiosity, what are the apple devices that you are using? Why is 5 GHz out of the question. What are the other wireless pieces within your network. If I can get this, I would like to try and figure out a possible solution for you.

If this does not improve your issue, please call our support center and open a case so that one of our engineers can work directly with you.

There are all devices which are connecting to the network via Wi-Fi:

I checked them all and seems like they have only 2.4.

My apologies for not responding sooner. I was pulled away on another project and am just now getting back to where I can answer some post.

Really the next step would be to get a wireless scan of your area. If your still within your free phone support of your Device, you can call in and have one of our engineers help you with that. That would probably be the quickest and easiest.

If not I can write up a little document that you can use to do this as well. It is really a very simple process. Also you can use the Rogue AP feature on your WAP321, however it will take a little more deciphering to see what is currently in the area and when it was last seen.
