Hi Simon,
Why not look at a Cisco home product like PLK300. Ethernet power powerline kit.
(the link above is olive, if you wish to see the product)
Save you lots on cabling and wireless and will extend ethernet over your domestic power circuits.
Then if you wish, plug a WAP at the remote end to get wireless connectivity.
It's cleaner and reduces cabling requirements.
