G'day All,
I have a handful of 1142n APs to convert to lwapp mode. I am ok the upgrade process (i.e: tftp the rcv file to the AP, run the archive command, boot the AP with the rcv file, etc) but what I'm confused about is if the 1142s I have currently have 1140-k9w7-tar.124-25d.JA what is the corresponding rcv file version? From the CCO I can't see a 12.4.25 version in the lwapp ios files. I can see 12.4.21a-JX, 12.4.23c-JA5, 12.4.23c-JA2, 12.4.18a-JA1.
Also under the Latest Release is the 12.4.21a-JX rcv file, but it is labelled as a WIRELESS LAN LWAPP RECOVERY version which I am not sure I can use.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the prompt response Scott. I'll complete a test upgrade in the next couple of days and post back how I go.
Cheers.

G'day There Scott.
I've done a couple of test runs of this and everything went pretty successfully. I wanted to ask, as once the AP was rebooted pointing to the new rcv file, it would connect to the WLC and download a lower version of software. I used
c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.152-2.JA.tar as you recommended, but once the AP connected to the WLC is reported something like it couldn't find the correct software version, so it downloaded and ran the folllowing version of software:
12.4(25e)JA$.
Did I miss a step with the use of the RCV file or is it just simply the fact that the WLC on has 12.4(25) version software so that is what the AP takes from the WLC?
Cheers,
JS

What is the version of the WLC?

Hi Leo,
The WLC is a 5508 and is running 7.2.103.0.
Thanks,

Did the ap download the correct software from the WLC? In the end, the software that the ap uses is dependent on the WLC code version. If you are having issues with the ap joining the WLC, can you post the output from the ap console port. Reboot the ap and capture the output and attach as a txt file.

The ap's joined the WLC fine. So that part is all ok. The ap's are serving all the ssid's correctly and one I configured in flexconnect mode is working as well, so all in all the conversion was successful. I just wanted to fill in the knowledge gap as to why the ap downloaded the 12.4 image from the WLC even though I loaded the version 15 rcv image. But I'm just assuming it is because the image on the WLC takes precedence over the local image on the ap.
Thanks

With controller build 7.3 onwards, we can see the version 15 in the AP
