Hi
This retail environment is using Flex7500 at head office with 2700 AP's at the stores. DHCP and authentication is local (WPA2 Personal). Although the infrastructure vendor has attempted to make the Wi-Fi environment as predictable as possible, 2.4GHz is very congested in the shopping center, and our Android clients keep dropping their association to the correct BSSID and attempting to connect to '3rd party' SSIDs. The signal to the correct BSSID is good.
We have disabled lower speeds on the infrastructure (12Mbps now lowest mandatory), run spectrum analysis and sniffer traces but nothing seems to be obvious.
Any tips for us please?
Thanks

1. Why prefer 802.11b? What's wrong with 802.11a radio?
2. What happens if you try a different client, like Windows or Apple? Maybe it could be a wireless NIC firmware issue?
3. How's Channel Utilization? How's Spectrum Expert?
4. When the wireless client is connected to the WLAN, can you post the output to the command "sh client detail <wireless client MAC address>".
5. Find the AP connected to the wireless client and post the complete output to the command "sh ap auto-rf 802.11b <AP name>". Do the same to 802.11a.

A few things... You have 14 defined WLAN's. Are all these being used and how many wlans are being used on a given AP? If you have good density and if the AP's are line of sight, your TX power might be lowering too much. Set your max and min TX and make then 3-6dbi apart. I would also look at setting the lowest mandatory maybe at 24mbps and see if things improve and then go up to 36mbps and test again. The other issue you might be running into is the other open SSIDs are probably being sent at a high TX power and the device is preferring that SSID over your customers. I would look at testing a given problematic area and create a new AP Group for testing. Then create an RF profile to be able to play around with max and min tx power and data rates. See what works well and then you have at least a template to use in other locations.

1. Why prefer 802.11b? What's wrong with 802.11a radio?
No 5GHz support on device
2. What happens if you try a different client, like Windows or Apple? Maybe it could be a wireless NIC firmware issue?
Yes, other Android devices are better, but the manufacturer does not have firmware updates.
3. How's Channel Utilization? How's Spectrum Expert?
SE directed us to ch 6 as the least utilized which we are using.
4. When the wireless client is connected to the WLAN, can you post the output to the command "sh client detail <wireless client MAC address>".
Will do this
5. Find the AP connected to the wireless client and post the complete output to the command "sh ap auto-rf 802.11b <AP name>". Do the same to 802.11a.
Will do this
