The system has been encountered an error initializing

The system is ignoring the error and continuint boot.

If you interrupt the system boot process, the following

Hi,

Load a tftp server on your laptop or desktop, download the latest ios code to your tftp server, make sure you tftp server is on line, the ios file has a .tar extension on it remove that .tar extension, then set you pc to an ip address in the 10 network, example 10.0.0.7, then connect your ap to your pc with a crossover cable, your ap by default has an address of 10.0.0.1, then power cycle your ap, it should then try to connect to your tftp server and download the new code. You can verify this by connecting the console cable to the ap and watching the log, also your tftp server should have a log you can watch. This procedure works great and can also be found on the cisco web page.

Good luck,

Terry

Hi,

I forgot one very important item, when you power cycle your ap hold the mode button for about thirty seconds the status led will change to red, release the mode button, then the ap starts to talk to the tftp server.

Hi there,

Ive downloaded the latest ap1200 ios image, the file name is called: "c1200-k9w7-tar.123-4.JA"

ive set tftp server ip adress and the conenction is correct. Here's the error:

ethernet link up, 100 mbs, full-duplex

Ethernet port 0 initialized: link is up

button is pressed, wait for button to be released...

button pressed for 21 seconds

process_config_recovery: set IP address and config to default 10.0.0.1

process_config_recovery: image recovery

image_recovery: Download default IOS tar image tftp://255.255.255.255/c1200-k9w7

-tar.default

examining image...tftp://255.255.255.255/c1200-k9w7-tar.default: no such file or

directory

ERROR: Failed to open archive file tftp://255.255.255.255/c1200-k9w7-tar.default

download takes about 0 seconds

The system is unable to boot automatically because there

are no bootable files to boot.

Do I need to unzip the " c1200-k9w7-tar.123-4.JA" file? the extension for this file is .JA not tar though.

Thanks for your help.

toni

i have renamed the ios image to "c1200-k9w7-tar.default". but the file extension is still "c1200-k9w7-tar.default.tar" how do i remove the .tar extension?

hi, i used the file properties changer software to change the .tar extension, is there ane easier way?

Thanks for posting this solution. I've been trying to fix my AP and Cisco's own documentation was close but didn't fix my problem until I found this thread.
