1200 Multiple VLAN design question...

I'm working on rolling out a wireless network with 1200's and plan on having separate VLAN's for the wireless networks and management. Our current network has the management for our switches on VLAN 3. My question is, should I use the same VLAN (3) for the BVI of our wireless gear. Should I use a different (free) VLAN? It's important to note that the BVI must be on a native VLAN so I need to modify the switch port for the wirelss AP to be something like 'native vlan 3'.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi,

I would agree with applying an IP address from your management VLAN to the BVI interface giving you a consistant management addressing scheme in your campus.

You can then configure a trunk between the AP and your switch. The command i have been using on trunks from APs to 3750 switches is "switchport trunk native vlan " and then "switchport trunk allowed vlan ".
