2 wireless networks

I'm trying to set up a wireless hotspot for customers in an area where I already have a wireless network for my company. Some client devices running windows XP keep bouncing between the 2 networks. I am using ANY as the ssid for the hotspot. What can I do so that these 2 networks can co-exist without hosing up the users?

Turn off the SSID broadcasts for the non-hotspot LAN.

Set the local (non-hotspot) users up with a fixed SSID corresponding to the non-hotspot WLAN.

You can turn off the broadcasts by unchecking or removing the "Guest Mode SSID" (or unchecking the "Broadcast SSID" in the Express Security screen of the HTTP GUI.

Good Luck

Another solution is to upgrade to XP SP2.

I am setting up 5 VLANS on my 1200 series AP's so I have 5 different SSID's. and using Microsofts supplicant for WI-FI. I want to be able to view the 5 SSID's and select the network I want or at least Broadcast some SSID's and not others. Is this possible?

There is a new feature in 12.3(2)JA allows the AP broadcasting multiple SSID. The new command is "information-element ssidl". The URL for command reference is as follows:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/wireless/airo1100/accsspts/i1232ja/i1232cr/cr32main.htm#wp2642501

However, not all supplicants support it.

Do you know if the GUI interface offers this option of broadcasting multiple SSIID's.

Also, Do you have a list of what supplicants can support this? Mainly Microsoft's supplicant?

Click on "SECURITY" and "SSID Manager" From there, you should see "Advertise Extended Capabilities of this SSID" and "Advertise this SSID as a Secondary Broadcast SSID"

I do not know when Microsoft supplicant will support this. Based on the other posting, it says that the next release of Microsoft supplicant will support it.
