Hi guys,
I'm interested in a AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9 for home office use. I want the best connectivity possible and am tired of consumer grade hardware. Is it possible to get the access point running without a controller?
Thanks,
Chester

The 3500 wireless access point requires a controller.
For home office use, you can choose either a 1040 or 1140 and it will suit you just fine. The only thing unique about the 3500 is CleanAir spectrum which a home office don't really require. You can negate the over-crowded and over-used 2.4 Ghz spectrum by disabling the 802.11b data rates or disabling the radio.

*cough* its not offically supported ... BUT you can run 1140 autonomous code on a 3500 *cough*

If one were to do that, what's the downside? Do you lose all of the features that make the 3500 a 3500?

Correct, CLEAN AIR namley. but if you ever go to a WLC you will have one bad ass access point ...

George,
You need to do something about your cough. I don't want to catch whatever you are having.
