Any assistance would be great.
Received a Cisco Wireless 5508 Wireless Controller and 8 each Finisar FCLF8521P2BTL SPF 1G Transceiver from the ordering department.
When configuring the controller the following error comes up for all of the transceivers:
FP00:(15)ERROR: SFP in port 1 has a bad CRC.
FP04:(15)ERROR: SFP in port 2 has a bad CRC.
FP04:(15)ERROR: SFP in port 3 has a bad CRC.
FP00:(15)ERROR: SFP in port 4 has a bad CRC.
FP08:(15)ERROR: SFP in port 5 has a bad CRC.
FP05:(16)ERROR: SFP in port 6 has a bad CRC.
FP05:(16)ERROR: SFP in port 7 has a bad CRC.
FP01:(16)ERROR: SFP in port 8 has a bad CRC.
Based on what I can find through research is this could potentialy be a compatibility issue or firmware.
I have attempt with no success to determine if the Finisar FCLF8521P2BTL is useable with the 5508 by contacting the manufacturing (no return call to date) and the vendor that sold the device. I need this information so I can come from a position of strength when I explain to the designer that this part isn't working and we either need a different one or a solution to correct.
If it is determine that a solution to correct the error is in order, I need to know how to do so.
Any assistance would be greatly appriceated.

I don't need to read any further. If you try to use the Finisar SFP with the 5508, the WLC will not "accept" the SFP modules.
Now I know that Finisar is one of the manufacturers of Cisco SFP but Cisco has added an additional algorithm into the IDProm. During the insertion of the SFP into the appliance, the appliance will interrogate this IDProm value. If the value does not match, then you'll get an error message in the vicinity of "bad CRC".

Thank you for the response.
Is there any documentation related to this issue? I need something in writing that outlines this as a known issue.
Additionally, the vendor states that Cisco can remove the requirement for cisco specific parts.
Thanks

If your vendor is an Authorized Cisco reseller, get this statement down in writing and send it to Cisco.

SFP Module Security and Identification
Cisco small form-factor pluggable (SFP) modules have a serial EEPROM that contains the module serial number, the vendor name and ID, a unique security code, and cyclic redundancy check (CRC). When an SFP module is inserted in the switch, the switch software reads the EEPROM to verify the serial number, vendor name and vendor ID, and recompute the security code and CRC. If the serial number, the vendor name or vendor ID, the security code, or CRC is invalid, the software generates a security error message and places the interface in an error-disabled state.
