Hi!
One 5520 WLC running 8.5.x and the other one is running 8.10.181.
Is it possible to start a mobility group between these? the 5520 with 8.10.181 is running 9120 APs, and the one with 8.5.x is running som 2600 APs.
We will change all 2600 model to 9120 but can not do it at once, so we need to run two 5520s at the same time.
How will the new APs find there way when they connects the first time (I mean if it is possible to start a mobilty group between these WLCs )
Any good guide that shows how to do it will be appriciated !

Yes, you should be able to setup mobility group across those different OS version WLCs

Did this with a customer not to long ago. The way they decided to ensure the APs found the right WLC was to put the new ones on a new subnet.
But given 2600s and 9100s and your WLC versions the other option is to just have both WLCs advertised by DHCP option 43 with the 8.10 as the first one.
The 2600s wont be able to register to the 8.10 version so will then try the next one and the other way the 9120s wont be able to register to the 8.5 version.
Also as APs will be in the same area, ensure that the RF Profiles are deployed to both WLCs if they are part of the same RF group, otherwise if they are not there they will default to using the default RF settings
