802.11b always probing

i'm a newbie

i have wlc 4404 , when i show client summary , a mac address always successfuly associated with 802.11g

but a mac address always failed and show probing with 802.11b ?

is this because date rate in 802.11 b/g/n ?

It could be a device that is trying to connect that is not authenticating. You also see this when you might be broadcasting an SSID and devices like phones, etc are set to try to connect to an open wireless.

Management frames operate at the lowest data rates (1mb), so if we don't see an association or data connectivity in the higher data rates then we will classify the device as a b device. This is until we can see the full capabilities of the client.
